Nadia LICCIARDELLO

Assistant Professor of General and inorganic chemistry [CHIM/03]

Dr. Nadia Licciardello is a Chemist of Materials, expert in challenging nanoparticles’ preparation, characterization, functionalization and application in several fields. After obtaining her master degree (2011) in Chemistry of Materials at the University of Catania, Italy, she defended her PhD thesis in Chemistry (2015, Title of the thesis: "Design, synthesis and functionalization of ultrasmall nanoparticles for bioimaging") at the Institut de Science et d’Ingénierie Supramoléculaires (ISIS), University of Strasbourg, France. Subsequently she performed a one year postdoctoral research experience (2015-2016) at Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR), Germany, and in 2017 she held a position of Lecturer and Scientific Associate at the Technische Universität Dresden (TUD), Germany, where she also led the Environmental Nanotechnology research line of the group till early 2019. From June 2019 till December 2021 she was a Research Fellow at the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL), Braga, Portugal, where she worked on coatings and magnetic nanoparticles. Since January 2022 Dr. Licciardello is a Researcher and Assistant Professor in Inorganic Chemistry at the Department of Drug and Health Sciences of the University of Catania, Italy, working on innovative phototheranostic systems based on ultrasmall nanoparticles.
