Claudia Carbone is Associate Professor at Department of Drug and Health Sciences of University of Catania.

She teachs:

- Galenic Laboratory A-L in the corse Pharmaceutical Technology and Galenic Laboratory (A-L), in the course of Pharmacy, University of Catania;

- Pharmaceutical Technology in the course of Biotechnology, University of Biotecnology.

 

She is Director of the RESEARCH CENTER IN PHARMACEUTICAL NANOMEDICINE AND NANOTECHNOLOGY (NANOMED), Dept og Drug and Health Sciences.

She is isecretary of the Council of the Master's Degree Course in Pharmacy and member of the Commission for the consistency of programs and disciplines and non-obsolescence of the programs of the Master's Degree in Pharmacy.

She published more that 90 papers on international journals in the field of pharmaceutical technology. She is also authored of 7 books chapter.

She is member of the Associazione dei Docenti e Ricercatori Italiani di Tecnologie e Legislazione Farmaceutiche (A.D.R.I.T.E.L.F.), Società Chimica Italiana) (SCI) and Controlled Release Society (CRS) Italy.

 

Her research activity concerns the development, preparation and characterization of drug delivery systems for the delivery of active molecules (synthetic and natural) of pharmaceutical, cosmetic and nutraceutical interest. In particular, her research in recent years has focused on ophthalmic targeting and the delivery of essential oils for topical application or for brain targeting.

 

Claudia Carbone is Associate Professor at the Department of Drug and Health Sciences, University of Catania, where she teaches Galenic Laboratory in the course of Pharmacy. Sche alto teaches Pharmaceutical Technology in the course of Biotechnology, at the Departmento of Biometec.

Her research is focused on the design, preparation and characterization of drug delivery systems to overcome biological barriers (skin, eye, brain, etc). She is interested in the delivery of natural compounds and the development of coating strategies. Her research activity is involved in those of two research centres:

- NANOMED (Research Centre in Pharmaceutical Nanomedicine and Nanotechnology)

- CERNUT (Research Centre for Nutraceuticals and Health Products).

She has authored over than 90 papers and 7 book chapters. Her h-index is 33, number of citations 3353 (Scopus, updated 13.03.2024).

Nanotechnology in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and agro-food fields.

Development and optimization, preparation and characterization of Drg Delivery Systems (DDS), with particular attention to lipid vesicular and particular systems for:

  • Brain targeting

  • Ocular delivery

  • Dermal/Transdermal delivery

  • Natural compounds delivery, with particular attention to product of the Mediterranean area

Member of the Research Centre for Nutraceuticals and Health Products (CERNUT), DSFS.

Since 2021 is member of the Commissione congruità programmi e discipline e non obsolescenza dei programmi of the course of Pharmacy.

Since 2005, she has been admitted to the Order of Pharmacists of Catania and is member of the Associazione dei Docenti e Ricercatori Italiani di Tecnologie e Legislazione Farmaceutiche (A.D.R.I.T.E.L.F.).

Since 2014 she is a member of the Italian Chemical Society (SCI) and also member of the Controlled Release Society (CRS) Italia for the years 2014 and 2018.

Claudia Carbone is member of the Scientific Committee for E.C.M. Of the Order of Pharmacists of Catania for the years 2015-2017, 2018-2020 and 2021-2023.

Scientific manager of the Scientific Committee for E.C.M. Of the Order of Pharmacists of Catania for the years 2021-2023.

In 2017 Dott.ssa Carbone was Member of the Jury Commission for the evaluation of the PhD student Maria do Céu Esteves Amaral Teixeira within Seminar I and Seminar II of the 3° cycle of PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences (2016-2017), Drugs R&D program, (supervisor: Prof.sa Eliana Maria Barbosa Souto), Faculty of Farmacy, University of Coimbra.

She is Member of the Editorial Board of:
